My desert dream house Positive: This place was a dream retreat! Perched over a valley of Joshua trees, mountains in the distance, no noise but the wind and the birds (even saw a coyote!). It was impeccably decorated in high desert style and had everything I needed. And the picture window? Wow! I didn't want to leave, and I can't wait to book for a longer stretch in the future. Negative: The only (very tiny) drawback was the hum of the hot tub in this serene spot, but I'm sensitive to sound. Maybe it wouldn't have bothered me if I had used it, but it was too big to handle on my own. I was there in the summer, but I can see it being fantastic in the cooler months.

Positive: It has a beautiful view, simple but perfect for a solo traveler or couple. Not too far off the beaten path.
